Explorer Redux
Yesterday I posted my new class, the Explorer. Today I had some thoughts.
Mostly, the whole thing is a little complex and a little too much of a grab bag. I decided to make some changes.
- I've removed the Languages ability. This is so the class isn't stepping on the Sage's toes. The Sage is the one who should be decoding old glyphs and researching stuff.
- I've moved the Ambush ability to the Knave, the sort of rogue-burglar-ninja class. This replaces the Knave's "Sneak Attack" ability, which was already kind of redundant seeing as I've made it a rule you can simply murder an unaware mortal creature.
- Finally, I think it makes more sense that you only need to explore layer 1 of each hex on the route - it's on the referee to make sure unsolved problems on the routes are represented in the world.
Hopefully the new Explorer is a little more focused and less prone to grabbing the microphone now! I think it's safe to say that up to a third of all my playtesting happens in my head and this is a great example.
